Once again, APHF joins ACCESS in their Community Market event, where we provided free clinical screenings for hypertension, obesity, vision health, diabetes, cholesterol, and hepatitis B. As usual, preceptors and volunteers also provided attendees with free medical education and consultations. Several APHF volunteers double as medical interpreters to assist patients at the outreach because the predominant language at the ACCESS Community Market is Spanish.
We thank each and every one of those that participated in the event, and look forward to hosting more events with ACCESS in the future.
NOTE: If you know anyone who is interested in gaining clinical experience and providing point-of-care health screenings to vulnerable populations in San Diego County, please invite them to apply to APHF's Core Volunteer Program. While it is not a prerequisite, it is a bonus if the prospective volunteer speaks another language, particularly if it is Mandarin Chinese, Vietnamese, or Spanish!
